Hey team!  Can you believe that in a week we’ll be gathering here in GA to begin this journey?! How exciting! Time is flying and I know each of you are busy making final preparations.  A few of you have asked some important questions and I’d like to begin answering them here.  Please continue to ask questions as you need to.  You can post them in the comments section below and we’ll get them answered for you the best we can.  Here are the first couple of questions I’ve received:

Q: What’s our dress code like and do we have to wear skirts for ministry?
A: You’ll find the details regarding our dress code in your handbook.  You have access to an electronic version of your handbook through your AIM account page.  Please review this before you pack.  Girls – just to reinterate, shorts need to be knee length and you may wear tank tops at training camp only.  Tanks need to have 2 inch straps, no spaghetti straps.  Girls, plan on wearing pants &/or capris, and skirts at least some of the time we’re doing ministry.  I’m certain that 2-3 skirts will suffice.  Once we get to Puerto Rico, we’ll figure out if/when we can wear shorts.  Guys – no capris!  no skirts!  no tank tops!  🙂  Refer to the handbook for specifics regarding your dress code.  For ministry you will need to wear pants.  You should pack at least one pair of khaki pants, one pair of jeans, then you’ll probably want to throw in a couple of pairs of shorts.

Q: How many bags can we bring?

A:  One.  This is a short trip.  If you can’t fit it in one bag, you don’t need it that bad. And yes, any ministry supplies you bring also need to fit into your one suitcase.  And yes, your sleeping bag needs to fit into your suitcase as well.  You’ll be amazed at how you really don’t need that much stuff!

Q: Are the luggage fees included in our trip cost?
A: You are responsible for any luggage fees that you incur as you fly into and out of Atlanta.  Once you are here, any luggage fees from Atlanta to Puerto Rico and back are covered in your trip cost.  The only exception is overweight baggage.  If your bag is over 50lbs, you are responsible for paying that fee.

Q: Do we need to bring a swimsuit?

A: Yes.  Again, refer to the handbook and make sure that it’s modest.  Girls: No bikinis!  Also, I suggest bringing some sort of shorts to wear over your suit.  Boardshorts work great for this and are great because they dry quickly.  Guys:  no speedos!  You may laugh, but it’s happened!

Are there other questions that are burning in your minds as you prepare??  Do ask.
