We were asked to write a blog about how we were called to this mission trip. Here is my story…..
About a summer ago, I was with my youth group, Lake Forest Baptist, on a trip to Caswell Beach (North Carolina). All of us love Caswell and were super excited to be going for a whole weekend. Caswell was holding a Baptist youth conference, which is pretty typical, and everyone was having a blast. At one of the sessions, though, I remember the speaker talking about his main topic, then out of no where it seemed he switched to the topic of missionary work. I was a little surprised, but kept listening. I remember his words pretty clearly, “I know one of you out there was meant for missionary work; that could be your calling. You just don’t know it yet.” I felt like a spotlight was directly pointed at me. I was in shock. It was like everything clicked. I finally understood what God wanted me to do, or at least try. So, when we got back home, I immediately did some research. I found one program, but it was a little pricy and it wasn’t what I was looking for. Then I stopped looking for a really long time. I just put it in the back of mind. But, it didn’t stay like that for too long. All of a sudden, I felt that sudden urge and inspiration in my heart, like before. I immediately went looking and at once, I found something. Adventures in Missions. Everything fit. The time, place, and even the price was fairly affordable. I was so excited and when my Dad agreed and when he said that would be fine, I was ecstatic! Then of course I went through all the steps to get where I am today. I thank God that everyone has been so supportive of my decision and is equally excited for me!
